Doctor Who: The Forgotten Army review

Book Cover

I’m baaaaaack!

No seriously, I am. Well in preparation for my big return I had to come up with the best thing I could review, and the first thing that came to mind was Doctor Who. So I have decided to start with the books I’ve read and then move on to the series. So let’s get started.

Now, the first Doctor Who novel I was lucky enough to find was the Forgotten Army. A New Series Adventure that takes place during Series(Season) 5 with the eleventh Doctor. It is one of the first adventures with Amy, and the writer was able to make both Amy and the Doctor seem like their television selves. Which is great.

New York– one of the greatest cities on 21st century Earth…

But what’s going on in the Museum? And is that really a Woolly Mammoth rampaging down Broadway? An ordinary day becomes a time of terror, as Ice Age creatures come back to life, and the Doctor and Amy meet a new and deadly enemy. The vicious Army of the Vykoid are armed to the teeth and determined to enslave the human race. Even though they’re only seven centimetres high. With the Doctor kidnapped, and the Vykoid army swarming across Manhattan and sealing it from the world with a powerful alien forcefield, Amy has just 24 hours to find the Doctor and save the city. If she doesn’t, the people of Manhattan will be taken to work in the doomed asteroid mines of the Vykoid home planet. But as time starts to run out, who can she trust? And how far will she have to go to free New York from the Forgotten Army?

Pros

*Well written

*Takes place in America (which is cool)

*Great chemistry

Cons

*Conflict drones on a bit too long

Overall

This is a great book. It is funny, has great characters and after setting the book down, you will want to pick it up again. I highly recommend this for Doctor Who fans, or Whovians. I give this a Ten out of Ten.
