Small Soldiers (Review)

What movie has Kirsten Dunst, Tommy Lee Jones and the great Phil Hartman? Small Soldiers! Now, before I continue, I must inform you this review will be pretty short, or small. Now for those who haven’t watched the movie, it is about a kid who gets strung up in a battle that the toys known as the Commando Elites have started. They will stop at nothing to destroy the peaceful race of Gorgonites.

The movie stars Gregory Smith and the previously mentioned actors. The story is great, if a little far-fetched, but it came from the 90’s, when everything was far-fetched. The acting was great, and it was sort of sad to see Hartman in his last major role.

My biggest problem is that the movie was advertised for children. This is NOT a kids movie, well it sort of is. If your kid can handle the violent nature of action figures killing each other, then let your kid watch it. But be warned, your kid will never play with action figures again. Now I’m not sure if that’s true, so don’t quote me on that .

Overall, I enjoyed the movie quite a bit. It’s silly and has aged well over the past 10 years. With that, I give it an 8.5 out of 10.
