Lockout (Review)

Plot

The president’s daughter is taken hostage in a prison breakout…in space! Now it is up to ex-CIA agent and suspected murderer, Snow (Guy Pearce) to save the day.

Pros

The relationship between Guy Pearce and Maggie Grace wasn’t too bad, especially since this was an action film and those are pretty light on the romance. Don’t get me wrong, this wasn’t some romance film, but it was weird to see the aspect sort of work. The action was pretty good and violent for PG-13. Pearce and Grace not only had chemistry, but they both gave good performances.

Cons

Everyone else’s acting was pretty bad and the special effects were sort of cheap, which I don’t mind but others might. The story was a little stupid and everything pretty much seemed too easy. There’s a scene where Guy Pearce jumps out a window and lands comfortably on the mattresses piled on a dumpster. This seems too convenient and there’s a lot more of that in the movie.

Score

3.5 out of 5

Fun Fact: In Taken, Maggie Grace is taken by big bad criminals. In Lockout, she is constantly taken by big bad criminals.
