Top 5 Tuesday: Best on Youtube

Ok, for the first of Top 5 Tuesday, I thought I would change things up a bit and start with my top five channels on Youtube. This isn’t a list of most subscribed or underrated, they are just my own personal favorite. If you have a favorite, or Top 5 of your own, comment with your favorites.

5. CTFxC

My fifth favorite Youtube channel has to be the world record holder of longest consecutive days vlogging. Charles Trippy heads up the channel and documents his daily life, similar to the wildly popular Shaytards vlog. CTFxC pulls ahead for the single fact that Trippy has been consecutive in documenting his life despite many hardships. Despite a brain tumor and divorce, Trippy has shown and up close look at his personal life for more years I can even fathom. For every bad day, though, there’s always a bright day. Over the course of the vlogs, he joined the band We the Kings and any time he spends time with ShayCarl, only the best things happen.

4. Cinemassacre

Home of the Angry Video Game Nerd, Cinemassacre is full of oddly wonderful videos with vulgar insults spat out by James Rolfe, aka the Angry Video Game Nerd. The thing is Rolfe and the AVGN can’t be further apart and that’s what make it fun. It’s clearly an act and a good one at that. Cinemassacre is also home of Board James which takes an interesting look at older board games. While mostly honest looks a board games, Board James made a leap toward insanity with their Mr. Bucket episode. It’s a must watch if you love strange videos.

3. WatchMojo

WatchMojo is a great channel full of lists, like Top 10 Songs of a certain decade or countdowns of Best Actors. It’s also an informative channel that teaches somethings you might not have known about a certain actor, movie or non-film related topic. They have an insane amount of subscribers, but with the amount of content that they have, it’s easy to see why.

2. Phillip Defranco, Sourcefed and SourcefedNerd

One could say that I’m cheating by including all these together, but since they are run all as one, I feel that it counts. The three channels all cover news, but Sourcefed and Philip Defranco cover more basic news while SourcefedNerd covers the nerdy stuff, like tech and video games. SourcefedNerd also features the hosts playing against each other in games and answering viewer questions. There’s something for everybody when it comes to Sourcefed as the hosts are all interesting and different.

1. Film Riot

Probably the best place to go with any filmmaking needs, With a great host, who is both funny and knowledgeable, Film Riot answers questions you didn’t even know you needed answers to. From practical effect to DIY film equipment, Film Riot tells you what you’re making, why you need it and most importantly, how to make it. You’re bound to learn something from this channel and it is a much watch for filmmakers on a budget. Check it out if you don’t believe me.
